The incumbent demonstrates competency in physical therapy for pediatric adult and/or geriatric patients. The incumbent provides patient assessments develops and implements individual patient treatment programs provides therapeutic interventions utilizing current and effective methodologies and maintains effective documentation.
Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations: This includes reviewing medical history performing physical examinations (assessing strength range of motion balance coordination sensation etc.) and using standardized tests and measures.
Develop individualized treatment plans: Based on the evaluation create specific measurable achievable relevant and time-bound (SMART) goals and interventions to address the patients impairments and functional limitations.
Implement treatment plans: Provide direct patient care including therapeutic exercises manual therapy techniques gait training balance training functional mobility training (bed mobility transfers ambulation) and pain management strategies.
Monitor patient progress: Regularly assess the patients response to treatment modify the plan as needed and document progress accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
Educate patients and families: Provide clear and concise instructions on exercises activity modifications and strategies for self-management to promote independence and carryover of skills.
