BryceTech is looking for a Science & Technology Protection Specialist that is responsible for ensuring the security protection and counterintelligence integrity of emerging and sensitive technologies within the AFWERX ecosystem. This includes implementing and overseeing Technology Protection (TP) measures countering foreign influence and exfiltration risks and supporting AFWERX leadership in navigating the complex landscape of innovation security. The role bridges science security and policyhelping safeguard cutting-edge research dual-use technologies and strategic innovation partnerships across the DoD industry and academia.
Technology Protection Strategy:
- Develop and implement Technology Protection (TP) plans in accordance with DoD Air Force and AFWERX directives.
- Integrate protection measures into the AFWERX acquisition innovation and partnership lifecycles.
- Assess and mitigate risks related to foreign influence unauthorized disclosure and dual-use research.
Security & Counterintelligence Coordination:
- Partner with AFOSI SAF/AAZ SAF/AQL and Air Force security professionals to identify and respond to emerging threats.
- Lead or assist with threat assessments for AFWERX programs technologies and collaborations.
- Provide guidance on Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Export Control (ITAR/EAR) and Critical Program Information (CPI).
Policy Implementation & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with DoDI 5200.39 DoDI 5000.83 National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM) and relevant Air Force policies.
- Manage Program Protection Plans (PPPs) and ensure they are integrated into lifecycle documentation.
- Train and advise AFWERX personnel and partners on S&T protection best practices and requirements.
Innovation Ecosystem Engagement:
- Evaluate non-traditional vendors research institutions and startup partners for S&T protection risk.
- Collaborate with contracting and program offices to include protection language in solicitations and awards.
- Support Foreign Disclosure and Technology Transfer processes in conjunction with Air Force disclosure offices.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain records reports and logs associated with TP activities and risk mitigation.
- Support leadership briefings with intelligence-informed risk assessments and security status updates.
Qualifications :
Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree
Experience Requirements:
- Active Secret security clearance
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of DoD and Air Force S&T protection information security and counterintelligence policies.
- Experience with Program Protection Planning security policy implementation or R&D security in a defense context.
- Familiarity with the technology development lifecycle and dual-use technology concerns.
- Ability to evaluate advise on and implement security measures for programs at varying classification levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in national security intelligence engineering cybersecurity or a related field.
- Prior experience with AFWERX DIU DARPA SCO or innovation-focused acquisition offices.
- Understanding of SBIR/STTR OTAs and working with non-traditional defense vendors.
- Experience supporting Critical Technology Protection or Trusted Capital programs.
Specialized Tool Experience: Proficient in contract management tools and financial systems (e.g. WAWF PIEE ACORS DTS DEAMS).
