Job Description Summary
Research Pharmacy Technician in the Department of Pharmacy Services reports to the Investigational Drug Services Pharmacy (aka MUSC Research Pharmacy) manager. Under general supervision the Research Pharmacy technician provides technical support to the investigational drug distribution activities of the Department of Pharmacy Services as well as administrative support for clinical trials conducted at MUSC.Entity

Job Description
Drug accountability maintenance and staff education for study Phases I-IV. Preparation and maintenance of various non-hazardous hazardous / biohazardous injections vaccines and infusions including chemotherapy and cell therapy. Following IRB protocol and GCP guidelines. Maintain aseptic technique and cleanroom guidelines according to USP 787 / 800. Use of various IxRS systems. Extensive interaction with monitors auditors and clinical and research staff. Training and supervision of incoming staff. Extensive use of Sparc Vestigo EPIC EMR and Oncore for study setup and maintenance.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Training and Education:
Associates Degree and two years of pharmacy technician experience; or
Bachelors Degree and one year of pharmacy technician experience; or Bachelors Degree in a science or healthcare related field and two years of research-related experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and intermediate level computer skills are required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Experience in aseptic drug preparation preferred. Previous work in a clinical research support role is highly desirable.
Required Licensure Certifications Registrations:
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) must be obtained prior to first day of employment and national certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) must be obtained within six months of employment. Candidates without PTCB certification upon hire may be provided additional pharmacy-related training as needed. Certifications must be maintained.
