MDH Behavioral Health Administration
Catonsville MD 21228

Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as Accountant Advanced for the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) in the implementation of the Public Behavioral Health System. This position is an integral part of the Fiscal operation and Federal Fund Grants. This position assists program managers with federal applications monitors and tracks expenditures completes reports for the federal government as required completes journal entries to realign costs for the federal grant provides information and support to the program managers on requests and reporting issues throughout the entire federal grant process. This position also collaborates with program managers and MDH grants accounting on revenue drawdowns and final closeout of the federal grant.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Bachelors degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.

Experience: Three years of experience examining analyzing and interpreting accounting systems records and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing for the required education.

2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.

3. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a masters degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

4. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required experience.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Accounting Officer classification or Financial Management specialty codes in the Accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTION PROCESS

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage accidental death and dismemberment insurance and life insurance but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
