Job Description
Fallbrook Union Elementary School District is a K-8 district. We share the yard with the high school bus service. We transport 2500 students home to school and mid-day. The fleet consists of over 37 buses and 12 vans. We encompass the town of Fallbrook and two schools on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base.
Responsible to:
Director of Transportation
The Mechanic III will:
- Inspects mechanical equipment and carries out a preventive maintenance program.
- Makes emergency road calls.
- Inspects diesel-powered school buses and other mechanical equipment such as automobiles trucks and mowers.
- Diagnoses trouble and determines extent of necessary repairs.
- To do related workas required.

- WORK SCHEDULE:8 hours/day 5 days/week Mon. Tue. Thu. Fri. 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Wed. 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- BENEFITS: Benefit package includes paid sick leave vacation and holidays (currently observing 16 paid holidays a year).
- REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING:Equivalent to the completionof the twelfth grade; One year of journey level experience in the repair of automotive and other power-driven equipment; supplemented by vocational training in diesel and automotive trades; good driving record; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
- REQUIRED LICENSE/CERTIFICATE:Possession of a valid California Drivers License Class B; and the ability to qualify for district
vehicle insurance coverage. - REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS (PDF):
