Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced full and/or part time CT Licensed Occupational Therapist to join our Related Services Team working within EASTCONNs schools over summer 2025.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students participation and engagement in various school activities by providing specialized occupational therapy services. This position requires a strong commitment to promoting students independence enhancing their functional skills and fostering their overall well-being within the school environment.

Individuals experienced working with low incident populations are encouraged to apply (Autism Multiple Disabilities etc.)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of students fine motor skills sensory processing and activities of daily living to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement evidence-based occupational therapy interventions and techniques to improve students motor skills sensory integration and cognitive abilities.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers parents and other professionals to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to students learning and development.
  • Monitor and document students progress adjusting intervention plans as necessary and maintaining accurate records of therapy sessions and outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and training to teachers and caregivers offering strategies to promote students independence and participation in classroom and school-based activities.
  • Actively participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings contributing to the development and implementation of education plans tailored to students specific needs.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Connecticut state license to practice occupational therapy.
  • Prior experience working with children preferably in an educational or pediatric setting.
  • Profound knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy techniques sensory integration and activities of daily living.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and communicate with parents and caregivers.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest research and best practices in pediatric occupational therapy.
