Hourly Rate: $23.66 - $33.00 (Based on years of relevant experience)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join a collaborative and mission-driven clinical laboratory team. In this vital role you will collect process and analyze clinical specimens to support diagnosis and patient care across all age groups from infants to geriatrics.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical accuracy quality control proficiency and the ability to effectively troubleshoot instrumentation and test-related issues. This position requires a strong commitment to safety compliance and customer-focused service.
Key Responsibilities:
Specimen Collection & Processing:
- Collect and handle patient specimens using proper safety and universal precaution protocols.
- Process and prepare specimens for testing or external lab referral.
Testing & Analysis:
- Perform waived and moderately complex clinical lab tests in compliance with established procedures.
- Analyze test results within the context of patient demographics clinical history and treatment.
- Validate and report results following lab protocols.
Instrumentation & Quality Assurance:
- Perform and document quality control and preventative maintenance on instruments.
- Troubleshoot testing errors or equipment malfunctions documenting corrective actions.
- Coordinate service calls when needed and maintain accurate maintenance logs.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to all regulatory legal and safety requirements.
- Participate in competency evaluations proficiency testing and annual quality assessments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the lab workspace.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent required.
- Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent) preferred.
- Previous experience in a clinical lab setting strongly preferred.
- Strong technical critical thinking and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
