About this opportunity:
Northeastern University is a global leader in experiential learning and cooperative education in which students alternate between academic study and work College of Arts Media and Design (CAMD) is seeking a Co-op Coordinator Faculty member to work with its co-op students and employers partners.You will join a team of highly-motivated professional collaborative individuals who provide an outstanding cooperative education program to students in the fields of architecture art design communication studies journalism music and theatre. This position will require thoughtful collaboration with CAMD academic faculty who are important to the success of the cooperative education program. This position will also require working in partnership with other cooperative education faculty within the CAMD Co-Op Team and within the university-wide co-op community.
Expectations of the Co-Op Coordinator Faculty Role
Education of Students:
The Co-Op Faculty Coordinator will be responsible for preparing students for the co-op search and reviewing their work experiences by advising and coaching students developing and delivering effective teaching and coaching programs that enable students to be successful in todays global environment. This includes but is not limited to working with students one-on-one in workshops and in the classroom.
Teaching the co-op related courses each semester and conducting individual career advising meetings with students. Course preparation includes teaching interviewing skills resume and portfolio basics professional behavior and communication workplace ethics as well as leadership skills and self-awareness and emotional intelligence development.
The Co-Op Faculty Coordinator will also maintain contact with students while engaged in their co-op experience and works with students through their post-co-op reflection.
Collaboration and Service:
The Co-Op Faculty Coordinator will collaborate with internal stakeholders for their role. These internal stakeholders will include but are not limited to alumni parents faculty staff the Office of Career Development the Co-op Directors other Co-op Faculty Coordinators across majors and colleges and the Global Experience Office.
The Co-Op Faculty Coordinator also engages in service to the Cooperative Education department College of Arts Media and Design and within the university wide co-op community. Service includes making presentations to prospective students and newly admitted students; participation on committees working groups task forces; and serving as an advisor to student organizations.
The Co-Op Faculty Coordinator will be expected to participate in professional development opportunities outside of the University to enhance the reputation of the co-op program and the University.
Employer Engagement and Partnership Development:
The co-op faculty coordinator is expected to develop new and maintain ongoing partnerships with employers in the fields of art media and design in order to create co-op and other experiential learning opportunities for students.
The co-op faculty coordinator must engage in lifelong learning to develop and maintain a current understanding of the industry employers and positions. Activities to support this endeavor include site visits to new and existing employers outreach to potential new co-op employer partners and active participation in relevant professional organizations.
The co-op faculty coordinator will also partner with relevant stakeholders across the university to ensure effective development management implementation and growth of both domestic and international employer partnerships.
The co-op faculty coordinator will work with the CAMD Co-Op team in developing and engaging in a strategic approach to employer engagement and continuous improvement of the Co-Op program.
The co-op faculty coordinator must be able to develop strategies to leverage our students expertise and in doing so position both the University and the College as a global talent solution provider.
Qualifications
A masters degree in college student development counseling education or a related Art Media and Designfield is required by the appointment start date as well as a minimum of three years of professional work experience.
Familiarity with technology is essential.
Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary.
Expertise working with a diverse staff and student population and a demonstrated commitment to achieving and maintaining diversity in the workplace required.
Ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment is essential
Proficiency in computer/technology and database maintenance and strong organizational skills.
Knowledge and appreciation of cooperative education and its impact on an individuals career development.
Ability to effectively engage a diverse network of global stakeholders across time zones.
Experience working with an international student population.
High-levelcustomer-orientationstrong presentation skills and experience in building and maintaining client relationships is essential. Prior professional experience in industry is preferred but not required.
While all candidates will be fully considered preference will be given to candidates with expertise and interest within the creative disciplines of the college and to candidates with a background teaching in higher education and within the field of experiential learning. Experience with employers or students in the fields of music or theater is especially a plus.

Pay Range:
Assistant Coop Coordinator: $69000.00 - $80000.00 Associate Coop Coordinator: $77000.00 - $87000.00 Senior Coop Coordinator: $87000.00 - $104000.00With the pay range(s) shown above the starting salary will depend on several factors which may include your education experience location knowledge and expertise and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
