Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country with a population of 240000 residents Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. The Audit Safety and Risk team sits within the Governance and Risk Directorate and is responsible for providing a wide range of internal services to the organisation focused on risk insurance audit and work health and safety.
The recipients of the 2022 Safework NSW Work Health and Safety Excellence Showcase award for Champions in Large Business (Government) category the team are concentrating on driving a collaborative approach to educating staff on safety matters that impact their day to day life. In addition we are also ensuring Councils internal audit plan targets our high risks areas and complies with relevant laws standards and legislation and making improvements across our claims process.
In contributing to the overarching vision the Risk and Insurance Officer administer Councils insurance portfolio dealing with all aspects of insurance claims management policy renewal and liaison with customers and insurance providers. The role provides support in the development and implementation of an integrated Enterprise Risk Management Framework to enable Council to achieve its goals and objectives. As well as assist the effective implementation and ongoing support of Councils Business Continuity Plan to effectively manage potential and actual business interruptions.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
