Senior Safety Compliance Officer Victoria Port Melbourne

Title: Senior Safety and Compliance Officer

Salary: $104614.47 will increase July 25 to $143368.68 plus Superannuation. Work Cycles may also be impacted!

Who we are

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is focused on building a diverse workforce that is representative of the heavy vehicle industry we regulate to improve safety and compliance.

In 2013 the NHVR commenced operations in as the national entity responsible for regulating all vehicles in Australia over 4.5 tonnes gross vehicle mass.

About the role

Supported by a team of Safety and Compliance Officers you will be responsible for leading and monitoring the enforcement of the Heavy Vehicle National Law primarily in the Port Melbourne area but also throughout Victoria.

Working collaboratively with the community and the heavy vehicle industry you will provide advice education guidance and enforcement to achieve greater compliance with the heavy vehicle national law. This includes education programs issuing warnings Infringement notices and compiling investigation reports for legal action.

As the Senior Safety and Compliance Officer you will ensure cohesiveness across the Port Melbourne teams as well as the other office locations to ensure we deliver activities in accordance with relevant road transport laws regulations NHVR strategies and processes.

Integral to your success will be your ability to work autonomously whilst balancing the objectives of the regulator the community and industry expectations.

Relocation support may be considered for the position.

About You

As the ideal candidate you will have a thorough understanding of the Heavy Vehicle National Law along with a passion for industry and road safety. With a pragmatic approach you will be familiar with exercising professional judgement in your application and well versed in working with a range of policies and procedures. Previous experience in a regulatory or compliance environment would be highly regarded.

As a natural leader you will enjoy coaching and developing others in the team and can foster effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. With high level interpersonal and tactful communication skills you will have the ability to deliver a high standard of customer service.

Your high level of ethics coupled with your growth mindset and team player attitude will be critical in the success of this role.

A valid Australian motor vehicle driver license is mandatory as well as the ability to work on a shift roster arrangement.
