The START Center for Cancer Research (START) is the worlds largest early phase site network fully dedicated to oncology clinical research. Incredibly while Academic Medical Centers (AMCs) conduct 80% of cancer trials such trials reach only 20% of the patient population leaving the majority of patients who are treated in community practices and hospitals without access to a clinical trial when their care journey calls for one. START serves the many by bringing cancer trials to physicians and their patients in community hospitals and practices when hope is needed most.

START represents the worlds largest roster of Principal Investigators (PIs) across its eight clinical trial sites. As an example in San Antonio where START was founded START treated the first patient ever with Keytruda the most effective cancer drug in medical history.

Study Start-Up Specialist

We are hiring a Study Start-Up Specialist. This role will facilitate excellent patient care by supporting and collaborating with the clinic team. This role is dedicated to the start-up process and managing the critical path to site activation to ensure clinical research sites are prepared and have the necessary tools and approvals needed to start a clinical trial.

This is a remote role. The annual base salary for this role is $58656 - $65000. However base pay may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including market location job-related knowledge skills and experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of administrative and clerical tasks requiring independent judgment and initiative.
• Manage all new study start-up activities from site selection through greenlight activation for START Network sites.
• Ensure study timelines are met per Sponsor expectations; provide rationale and contingency plans for delays.
• Review and follow SOPs and start-up processes; submit required documents to Sponsors/CROs and maintain the Investigational Site File.
• Identify and resolve start-up issues independently; escalate complex matters to leadership and stakeholders.
• Coordinate and lead study start-up meetings and maintain status updates for internal teams and Sponsors.
• Support departmental operations by assisting with trainings special projects system documentation and serving as a back-up for Client Engagement when needed.

Required Education and Experience:

• High school diploma/GED required.
• At least two years experience in administrative setting.
• Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Word.
• Strong organizational skills and a sense of timeliness in completing projects; detail oriented.
• Good spelling composition and proofreading skills.
• Must be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and have ability to understand instructions compose reports and correspondence.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Experience with medical terminology.
