Job Description

The School District of Washington is currently seeking a full-time Paraprofessional to provide services related to short-term substitute needs. The position is benefit eligible and starting pay ranges from $16.12 per hour to $19.46 per hour depending on relevant position will be assigned to primarily to Clearview. Substitute certification required. Inquiries should be directed to

POSITION SUMMARY (Primary purpose of job)

Paraprofessionals are responsible for providing direct and supplemental instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning. Additional duties include supervisory student health and/or mobility needs behavioral and academic support services.

SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE (Supervisory scope district impact and budgetary responsibility)

Paraprofessionals are responsible for supervising studentsimplementation of Teacher instruction and assessment plans and utilizing resources accordingly. Input and collaboration toward these efforts is critical as well as communicating with students teachers and other staff to implement student programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform)

  1. Assist the teacher with planning preparation and implementation of instructional plans to individuals small groups or large groups of students.
  2. Build and maintain secure relationships with students as well as maintaining professional relationships with colleagues parents and patrons.
  3. Maintain accurate records in accordance with timelines including individual student records classroom records content area reports grade level reports and building/department records as needed and/or assigned.
  4. Actively engages as a team member including but not limited to student teams grade level or department teams focus groups Building and/or District teams.
  5. Report suspected abuse neglect discrimination harassment etc. as directed by Board Policy and otherwise required by law.
  6. Other duties as directed by the supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES (duties which the incumbent can be expected to perform)

  1. Additional duties necessary to supervise students monitor events or assist in an emergency situation.
  2. Attend building events such as open houses curriculum night informational meetings and events designed to bring the public into the District.
  3. Occasional or sporadic duties such as taking tickets at an event participating on an interview committee covering a duty of a colleague etc.
  4. Participate in professional development activities and/or work outside of the typical school work day and/or school calendar.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise students at all times and/or as directed by supervisor

Supervise events as described above and/or directed by supervisor

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements licenses skills and experience required as well as preferred options)

Valid Missouri substitute certification and 60 hours of college credit and/or a passing score on the para pro assessment



DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS

The candidate should be able to move in and around the classroom building District buildings and campus locations. The candidate may be required to lift up to 50lbs. and maintain consistent attendance in accordance with the attendance policy unless otherwise required by law. General functioning such as the ability to maintain confidentiality communicate clearly both orally and in writing utilize District resources including District issued technology and meeting multiple demands from people while interacting with students staff and the public are required to fulfill the essential job duties.
