About the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis
There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multi-racial multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American 38 percent Latino 21 percent Anglo 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks 10 community centers numerous hike-and-bike trails three maintenance service centers and several area offices all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

What you will do at Precinct One
The Regional Manager will plan direct and oversee the operations workflow and fiscal health of their assigned area. Provide administrative support for the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent and collaborate with other departments to ensure the efficient and reliable functioning of the sub-division. Provide technical and supervisory assistance to workers who perform various manual and semi-skilled tasks related to maintenance and construction on roads trails ditches right of ways and easements parks and bridges. Assist Foreman and team with various road maintenance drainage and mowing responsibilities on County Road right-of-ways within Precinct One.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- The successful candidate will plan maintain work systems procedures and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of people and other resources. Assist Deputy Superintendent and Superintendent of Road & Bridge with the development of annual work plans and annual budgets. Work closely with Foreman to provide guidance and support with employee performance disciplinary evaluation and coaching. Monitors supplies and equipment inventory. Submit re-stock orders. Assists with the development of and participates in training programs for proper use of equipment and tools.
- Prepare and maintain reports necessary to carry out the functions of the sub-division and track strategic goal accomplishments. Manage the overall operational budgetary and financial responsibilities and activities of the sub-division. Ensures compliance with safety protocols and precinct policies and procedures. Reports safety concerns to management and assists with plans to address safety issues. Report accidents and injuries to the Superintendent.

- Experience:
What you will bring to Precinct One
Education:
Bachelors degree in a related field of study or an industry-related certification from an accredited college university or reputable organization
- Seven (7) years of progressive experience in the Road and Bridge field including roles with closely related or substitutable duties and responsibilities
- Relevant experience in operating commercial grade landscaping equipment and heavy equipment
- Proficiency in one or more Microsoft software applications to include Word Excel Powerpoint and Outlook.
Comparable years of experience maysubstitute for education on a year-for-year basis
Licensure:- Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Knowledge of relevant industry principles and best practices
- Good organization and communication skills including written verbal and presentation skills.
- Ability to coach and lead teams support workplace safety programs develop and implement successful maintenance programs and practice good budget management
- Ability to work weekends holidays special events or other irregular hours when required.
- Skilled in employee management training counseling and disciplinary actions
- Developing and implementing park safety plans and emergency protocols.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:- This job may operate in an indoor professional office environment and/or outdoor environment. Exposure to various and extreme weather conditions temperature variations loud noises and possible dangerous chemicals could be encountered depending on area assigned.
- This role is a standard office role which requires remaining stationary for long periods of time. At times files or boxes must be transported weighing up to 15lbs. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
