You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAs an Environmental Science Specialist you will conduct research and perform enforcement activities in the Hazardous Waste Unit for the purpose of ensuring compliance with appropriate rules and regulations; you will be identifying abating or eliminating sources of pollutants or hazards that affect either the environment or the health of the population. Using knowledge of hazardous waste rules and regulations you will recommend actions based on data derived from field observations write technical documents demonstrating non-compliance perform compliance assistance and escalated enforcement actions. In order to conduct field observations for this position applicant is required to travel to the ADEQ Phoenix location on a frequent basis.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona based upon the departments business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Performs or leads projects under direction of a unit lead or manager.
Conducts assessments on compliance with hazardous waste rules and regulations based on field data.
Produces technical documents demonstrating non-compliance and conditions to come back into compliance with rules and regulations.
Provides compliance assistance to responsible parties while conversing with a variety of subject matter experts including contractors operators and lawyers.
Knowledge of Agency policies and process State (ARS) and Federal (CFR) environment regulations.
Environmental sciences and its applications.
Environmental research and investigative techniques and statistical analysis.
Knowledge (in-depth) of Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA).
Knowledge of informal enforcement actions.
First-rate technical writing skills.
Excellent communication skills (orally and written).
Ability to discuss remediation hazardous waste with various matter experts.
Bachelors degree or higher in environmental management/science/studies geology earth sciences law or sustainability.
EES 2: 2 years of hazardous waste experience
Knowledge of RCRA Rules
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business the following requirements apply:Drivers License Requirements.
