Job Description

TITLE: Teacher Middle School

JOB DESCRIPTION: To create a flexible middle school grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupils ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor Degree
  2. Arizona Elementary and/or Secondary Certification
  3. Appropriately certified in core subject area
  4. Provisional SEI or full Bilingual or ESL endorsement

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by the incumbents of this class.)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan implement and evaluate instructional programs for area(s) of assignment and student population.
  • Effectively collaborate with colleagues through a Professional Learning Community model.
  • Demonstrate teaching skills and knowledge in assigned academic area utilizing course of study adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instruct pupils in subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Evaluate pupils academic and social growth keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  • Take initiative in productively addressing overall programmatic refinements for the purpose of maximizing each students potential through positive interpersonal skills.
  • Work cooperatively with administration and staff at the building level to best meet the educational needs of the student population.
  • To create a positive learning environment to facilitate the academic personal social and intellectual development of each student.
  • To present appropriate curriculum that is in alignment with federal state and district goal and objectives using a variety of instructional methods and strategies to further enhance and support learning.
  • To maintain high expectations for self and all students and encourages them to become lifelong learners.
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupils progress and interpret the school program. Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health attitude and learning problems. Create an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays bulletin boards and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service professional development activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Select and requisition instructional aids and materials; maintain required inventory records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
