The Division of Sidewalk & Inspection Management (SIM) is responsible for maintaining the citys 12760 miles of sidewalks and approximately 162000 pedestrian ramps. SIM is tasked with sustaining a comprehensive inspection pedestrian ramp and sidewalk program that ensures accessibility of pedestrian ramps streets and sidewalks.
The Citywide Concrete Program inspects curb and sidewalk complaints from the public identifying damaged or missing sidewalk & curbs that are pedestrian & vehicular hazards and can cause severe flooding. Citywide Concrete Unit (CWC) supports the agency s goal to enhance rehabilitate and maintain the City s infrastructure by acting as the agency s primary construction unit. We employ dedicated engineers managers support staff laborers and adopt cost-savings and efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of excellence and service to safety and quality.
The Community Associates will be responsible for preparing daily crew schedules for pours excavation safety checks framing saw cutting and asphalt while handling 311 complaints and maintaining records in the COM database. Tasks include managing Citytime entries verifying crew sheet data tracking completed corners filing trip sheet audits and submitting invoices to the Fiscal department. Monthly and quarterly responsibilities involve grant and capital eligibility data entry absence control reporting and preparation of supporting documentation for funding. Annually the Community Associate assists with employee evaluations mandatory training and emergency response data entry. They also research pedestrian ramp construction and complaints using multiple databases maintaining logs of correspondence and responding to inquiries from Borough Commissioners elected officials and the public. May attend meetings with stakeholders and assist walk-in constituents with project-related inquiries. Additional administrative support will also include assisting with coordinating temporary repairs for defective ramps and conducts document searches for complaint investigations. Data entry related to emergency events such as snow removal or coastal storms will also be required as needed.

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to 1 above.
