Job Description
The Pathobiology Research associate will perform routine and specialized histology techniques wet lab work data acquisition and compilation using state-of-the-art molecular pathology techniques.
The incumbent will interface closely with other scientists veterinary pathologists and histotechnologists in a client environment as well as other cross-functional project teams to provide timely high-quality data to support the client.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct routine histology techniques including tissue processing trimming of tissues of diverse origin embedding paraffin block microtomy and cryo-sectioning
- Setup and perform routine pathology staining techniques including H&E and special stains
- Perform novel molecular pathology assays including IHC RNAscope multiplexing using automated platforms (Ventana and Leica) and manual methods
- Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment keep accurate laboratory records and ensure proper archiving of pathology specimens
- Perform digital image analyses while generating quantitative data using a variety of Image analysis softwares (e.g. HALO MATLAB) to support discovery pathology programs in the client environment.
- Work with board-certified anatomic pathologists to review QC and approve algorithms
- Careful record keeping follows good laboratory and GLP-like practices.
Qualifications :
Required Education Level and experience
- bachelors degree in biological sciences with 3-4 years of experience
- masters degree with 1-2 years of experience
- Experience working in a research or pharmaceutical-based histology laboratory.
Required Knowledge/Skills
- Must have experience with histology techniques such as tissue processing and staining
- Experience with scanning and digital pathology platforms is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task prioritize and provide timely high-quality results on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
Other Requirements
- ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred.

Additional Details:
The position is full-time first shift Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Boston MA are encouraged to apply.
