JobGoal(s):
- Provide programs to assist students with transitions between schools.
- Provide classroom programs on affective issues (peer pressure self-esteem communications skills dealing with feelings social relations)
- Provide programs which deal the decision-making/ problem/solving (personal safety conflict resolution goal setting)
- Assist classroom teachers with lessons related to school success (study skills time management)
- Provide programs and assist with established programs which address life- (SEL curriculum)
Qualifications
- State certificate in guidance or licensed professional counselor
Certifications
- Holds or is eligible to hold Maine DOE Certification - 075 Guidance Counselor
- Motor Vehicle Operators License or ability to provide own transportation
Performance Responsibilities
- Developmental Guidance Services
- Provide programs to assist students with transitions between schools.
- Provide classroom programs on affective issues (peer pressure self-esteem communications skills dealing with feelings social relations)
- Provide programs which deal the decision-making/ problem/solving (personal safety conflict resolution goal setting)
- Assist classroom teachers with lessons related to school success (study skills time management)
- Provide programs and assist with established programs which addressSEL topics.
- Counseling and Consultation Services:
- Counseling
- Provide individual and small group counseling services for students.
- Develop support groups to meet specific needs of students(family dynamics big feelings friendships etc...)
- Provide individual advisement services to students
- Assist students with developing goals.
- Respond to crisis situations by providing direct services calling on Crisis Team assistance or making appropriate outside referrals.
- Maintain and promote appropriate contact with parents P.E.T. process.
- Consultation
- Consult with administrators principals SAT Team parents P.E.T. Process when appropriate.
- Make referrals to outside agencies when appropriate.
- Program Management/Program Development
- Communicate Guidance Services and concerns to all staff and community (guidancenewsletter memos brochures)
- Assist with promoting positive public relations and guidance activities serve on boards committees.
- Promote professional growth and development attend workshops conferences professional association meetings.
- Respond to needs by developing new programs (Community school needs)
- Prepare budget to provide for guidance needs (materials attendance at conferences supplies etc.)
Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in related area preferred.
Experience

Working Schedule
Travel Requirements
- Travel between schools or district buildingsmay be required for certain positions
Reports To:Building Principal
Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.
Evaluation:Completed annually by building Principal
