About The Role:
Are you passionate about speaking up and helping others do the same Were looking for someone with lived experience of intellectual disability to join our Advocacy team as a Peer Project Officer.
In this role youll work closely with the Project Officer and the Head of Advocacy to support our Self Advocacy Project. Youll help people we support to share their thoughts join conversations and feel confident using their voice. Youll also let our team know what matters most to the people we support.
What youll do:
- Talk with people we support about advocacy
- Help others speak up and be heard
- Work with staff to make sure theyre listening to the voices of the people we support
- Support the organisation of meetings and activities
- Help ensure the project runs smoothly and effectively
What you bring:
- Lived experience with intellectual disability
- Confidence to speak up about things that are important to you
- Interest in advocacy and helping others
- Good communication and relationship skills
- Willingness to work from the Cannon Hill Support Centre during the week
- Ability to attend meetings in other locations when needed
