Opening for an APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Psychiatry consult team in the Emergency Department at UVM Medical Center. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing new patient and follow-up consultations autonomously in a high-volume Emergency Department in collaboration with the broader Emergency Medicine team which includes psychiatry attendings residents social workers mental health technicians and medical students.
Full and part time positions available. Primary shift coverage needs are M-F 1:30 - 9pm and weekends 8a - 8p. Shift differential eligible.
- Previous clinical experience as an NP or PA is strongly desired with preference given for experience in psychiatry or emergency medicine.
- Candidates should have clinical experience and comfort working with patients in acute mental health crisis.
- For the NP: certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner preferred.
- Registered nurse who has successfully completed formal education program approved by the Vermont Board of Nursing or state or national accrediting agency which prepares nurses to function in advanced nursing practice.
- Must also be certified by national certifying agency recognized by the Vermont State Board of Nursing.
- Successful completion of educational program recognized by the national Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certification as a Vermont Physician Assistant through completion of Board approved apprenticeship and evaluation or graduation from the board-approved PA program.
- Successful completion of a CAAHEP approved PA educational program. NCCPA certification is expected.
- Must hold or be able to attain certification from the VT Board of Medical Practice as a PA.
- Bachelors degree required; Masters degree preferred.
