The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Company is currently hiring a Software Engineering Manager to support the C-17 Mission Software Team in Long Beach CA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services (BGS) business organization. This manager will lead a team of engineers that designs and develops flight software solutions for the U.S. Air Force and Foreign Military customers.
The C-17 Mission Software Team develops and test associated safety critical flight software in a fast paced agile engineering candidates will work closely with systems engineering teams customers suppliers and field service will research and integrate new technologies to both modernize and sustain fleets of the worlds finest airlift candidates will have the opportunity to deliver new capabilities using the latest engineering techniques to design and test C-17 flight systems.
The successful candidate will have a passion for working with people and delivering exceptional products to our customers with a focus on safety and quality. Additionally to capture the significant opportunities across the team the successful candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to translate strategy to action in alignment with the organizations mission and vision.
Position Responsibilities:
- Develops and motivates employees
- Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships withdirect reports customers peersbusiness partners and other stakeholders
- Develops and executes project and process plans implements policies and procedures and works closely with other C-17 teams
- Acquires resources for projects and processes provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements
- Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches products and processes
- Travel domestically and internationally
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
- 3 years of experience in managing or leading a team in the software development discipline
- Experience with Product Management Principles & Methodologies
- 7 years of experience in software development
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Bachelors Masters or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering computer science mathematics physicschemistry or technical degree
- Experience with real-time embedded and Linux operating systems
- Experience with integrated avionics systems
- Cloud application development and deployment expertise
- Earned Value Management (EVM) or project management
- Experience with Agile Software Development
- Experience with Ada C/C configuration management and DOORS
- Knowledge of airworthiness and flight certification processes
