Temporary Summer Groundskeeper

Job Summary: To assist the Grounds department in maintaining the campus grounds by pulling weeds watering plants checking for and removing trash storm clean up mulching weed eating mowing and other assigned tasks.
Essential Functions:
- Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia Colleges vision mission and values and contributes to the development of the Plant and Facilities Department.
- Practice superior customer service.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
- Display respect and civility to all constituencies in all communications.
- Attend work timely and on a regular basis during the established hours of operation
- Maintenance of shrubs trees flowers and other plants.
- Mowing and trimming grass using weed-eaters and riding and push-type mowers.
- Raking leaves.
- Landscape bed maintenance.
- Dispose of trash and debris from parking lots and campus lawns.
- Experience in grounds maintenance.
- Able to operate all types of landscape equipment

Position reports to: Grounds Supervisor
Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
- Ability to fluently read write and understand the English language.
- Proficiency with the following but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
- Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
- Proficiency in using web-based technologies including database systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment with or without direct supervision.
- Excellent communication interpersonal customer service and organizational skills.
- Valid Missouri drivers license.
- Prior grounds experience.
- Ability to handle tools and machinery used to perform duties.

Other Requirements: Ability to satisfy within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal state and local laws a criminal background check as a condition of employment.

- Valid Missouri drivers license or ability to attain one.
- Must meet and maintain requirements as an approved driver for Columbia College.
- Ability to lift and remove minimum 50 pounds.
