Core Subject Academic Mentor Key Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted academic support to small groups of high-attaining students
Support the delivery of the curriculum in core subjects (Maths English or Science)
Help raise attainment and academic confidence across KS3 and KS4
Work closely with subject teachers to identify pupil needs and plan interventions
Implement school-wide behaviour expectations and support SEND students
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
Build strong relationships with pupils parents and staff
Track progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff
Demonstrate a clear desire to move into a teaching role
Core Subject Academic Mentor Person Specification:
1:1 degree in a core subject from a top 20 UK university
Confident proactive and engaging approach in the classroom
Ability to manage behaviour positively and professionally
Flexible and adaptable team player
Interest in pursuing a future teaching qualification
Excellent communication skills particularly with parents and carers
Located in or able to commute to Barking & Dagenham
