Associate Director of Pathway Programs
Primary Function: The Associate Director of Pathway Programs is the principal and most visible contact resource and advocate on campus for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare law and related graduate and professional fields. This role includes serving as a liaison to graduate programs providing academic and career advising and facilitating connections with alumni faculty and professional organizations.
Administrative Responsibilities: - Identify maintain regular contact with monitor and provide timely academic and career advising to students
- pursuing careers in healthcare law and related fields
- Serve as the Outreach Lead (liaison) to Hanovers graduate programs including Doctor of Physical Therapy Doctor of Occupational Therapy Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and undergraduate students in the Nursing Program
- Develop and implement pathway programs for students interested in health-related and legal careers including curricular co-curricular and experiential learning opportunities
- Promote program awareness through collaboration with the Office of Communication and Marketing targeting students faculty staff alumni and external partners
- Partner with the Office of Admission to effectively market pre-health and pre-law programs to prospective students and parents
- Work with faculty advisors VP/Provost of Academic Affairs and the Office of the Registrar to ensure effective advising and course scheduling for pre-health and pre-law students
- Work closely with Associate Director of Internships and Assessment to explore and expand externship opportunities based on student interest including mental health dentistry physician assistant studies and law-related fields
- Cultivate relationships with graduate and professional programs ensuring students are well-informed about application processes prerequisites and expectations
- Recruit and engage external partners including legal and healthcare professionals sponsors and alumni to support internships externships mentorship and networking opportunities
- Work closely with the COACH Mentoring Program and FY 101 instructors to connect pre-health and pre-law students to alumni practicing in related professions or field of interest
- Coordinate letters of recommendation for students applying to professional or graduate programs
- Track and assess student progress and post-graduate placements to improve program outcomes and conduct annual program assessments to measure effectiveness and propose improvements through HanoverConnect (12twenty) and other membership platforms
- Engage in professional development relevant to pre-health pre-law and graduate program advising: memberships with National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP) and Northeast Association of Pre-law Advisors (NAPLA)
Supervisory Responsibilities: - Manage student worker to support operations of the Pathway Programs such as pre-health and pre-law programs including workshops/events on-campus recruiters informational sessions and academic preparation for standardized tests (e.g. MCAT LSAT GRE)
- Organize the annual Hanover Law Dinner/Luncheon and Lawyer Awards event
- Collaborate with Associate Director of Career Coaching to assist in training Pre-health Career Peer Mentor and Pre-law Career Peer Mentor
- Monitor and approve timecard for student worker
Other Responsibilities: - Assist students with completing the FutureFoundations program and career competencies toolkit
- Attend Levett Career Center programs and events as needed
- Promote a positive image of Hanover College and represent the College in accordance with the Colleges mission principles and strategic plan
- Support a welcoming College environment
- Perform/complete other projects and tasks assigned by Executive Director
Qualifications: Education Certifications Training Experience: - Bachelors degree required (preferably in science health-science or law); Masters degree preferred
- Experience in advising counseling or coaching students through career services or other higher education departments
- Training required during onboarding: HanoverConnect (12twenty)

- Ability to work independently
- Creative thinker: ability to collaborate and consider how to scale up services and increase accessibility for pre-health and pre-law students
- Strong networking skills to build relationships with alumni faculty and external professionals
- Knowledge of professional school application processes (e.g. AMCAS CASPA LSAC)
- Ability to organize and implement student programming effectively
- Ability to work flexible hours if necessary
Physical Requirements/Work Environment: - On-site position with one work remote day per week (team work remote day)
- Office space located off the main lobby with Levett Career Center team; office furnishings provided (accessible by chair lift/elevator from garden level of Hendricks Hall)
