Job Description

Overview

The Manager Behavioral Services will oversee the provision of behavioral services to a varied population of students in a non-public setting. The incumbent provides direct and indirect supervision to staff providing behavioral services to students and managing positive behavioral supports across the assigned school program. This includes overseeing the completion of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA) and development of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) by Behavioral Services Case Managers and providing the necessary training for Behavior Specialists and Behavior Analysts to complete FBAs and BIPs according to standards. The incumbent collaborates with other program administrators to ensure the delivery IEP-based and programmatic behavioral supports as well as ensuring compliance with all Federal State and local requirements in these areas. This position participates as a member of the administrative team providing data for systematic review participating in admission procedures inter-school transfers and classroom assignments. The incumbent also assists with daily assignments of classroom and Behavior Resource staff and serves as a transportation liaison as it pertains to behavioral issues. This position may provide field supervision to those seeking Board Certified Behavior Analyst and/or Registered Behavior Technician certification.

The Powder Mill (Beltsville MD) campus of Kennedy Krieger School serves students in grades 2-8 who are working toward a high school diploma and students aged 7-21 who are seeking a certificate of completion.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate with the Programs Educational Director and Director of Psychological and Behavioral Services to oversee the development and implementation behavioral services including the administration of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and the development revision and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  2. Supervise the development implementation and monitoring of school-wide Positive Behavioral Supports.
  3. Provide ongoing monitoring of progress of behavioral goals. Produce necessary documentation for the Individualize Education Plan (IEP) team including annual summaries progress reports on behavioral goals aide justifications FBA reports and BIPs. Attend and present at IEP meetings as needed.
  4. Coordinate conduct and monitor crisis management training and certification for staff in conjunction with other school programs. Participate in and contribute to staff in-services including the design delivery and evaluation of training related to all aspects of behavior management. Maintain data regarding staff training.
  5. Recruit orient train observe supervise and evaluate all Behavioral Services staff.
  6. Responsible for day-to-day deployment and assignment of Behavioral Services staff and assigned Program Aides.
  7. Assist ACT office with reviewing students for intake and admissions. Provide feedback regarding behavioral management concerns as well as student placement options as appropriate.
  8. Maintain and monitor school-wide databases and oversee input of data into individual and school-wide spreadsheets and databases. Ensure that all behavior management statistics are provided as needed for Cross-Campus Continuous Quality Improvement Reviews IEP meetings and other meetings as requested.
  9. Oversee the processing of transportation-based disciplinary referrals. Monitor consultation provided by Behavior Specialists Analysts and Coordinators and attend transportation-related team meetings as needed. Provide consultation to Local School System transportation staff regarding behavior management on the bus.
  10. Monitor compliance with State and Federal regulations regarding behavior and crisis-management procedures.
  11. Provide independent fieldwork supervision for individuals seeking Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification as needed.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess and maintain certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Must possess and maintain licensure in Maryland as a Licensed Behavior Analyst.
  • Must achieve possess and maintain certification in Professional Crisis Management (PCM) at the Practitioner 2 level within the timeline established by the department. The department will provide a limited amount of certification opportunities. Individuals may obtain and provide documented evidence of required certification from an external provider.
  • Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

EDUCATION:

Masters degree in Psychology Behavior Analysis Education or related field required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum five years of experience with children with developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges is required.
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience required.
