Job Description

JOB TITLE: Certified Spanish Language InterpreterREPORTS TO: The Office for Student Support Services Supervisor(s)SUMMARY: The Certified Spanish Language Interpreter assists with verbal interpretation and translation. He/she also provides interpreting services in a native language and in English in a variety of professional and personal settings. He/she provides translations for a variety of documents in a native language and in English for a variety of professional and personal documents. He/she assists in the implementation of diversity and inclusion initiatives for the Lawrence Public Schools. DUTIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS POSITION INCLUDE: Fluency in English and SpanishWilling and able to attend all training that verify completion of professional to work independently using sound judgment and professional to interpret body language and use memory dialogue and aids in the interaction among teaches and participates in the delivery of multicultural educational SKILLS ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICSFamiliarity with diverse cultures and diversity-related and organizational and human relations and written communication skills in English and to the needs of a diverse and honest to initiate and maintain positive relationships with a variety of individuals and to adapt to changing needs MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Valid certificate appropriate for the position. Meets all mandated health screening requirementsA record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment. Adheres to Code of Professional ConductComplies with drug-free workplace rules board policies and administrative guidelines/procedures. Ability to establish working relationships with co-workers and function as part of a cohesive team. Commitment to keep current with skills essential to the objectives of the position. Ability to facilitate student/family access to appropriate community resources. PREFERRED:Associates degree required Bachelors degree preferred. Prior Experience in a school setting preferred Experience in IDEA policy and procedures.
