The Assistant Principal will assist the school principal in the overall administration of the instructional program and campus-level operations as well as coordinate assigned student activities and services.
Qualifications Requirements
- Masters degree
- Texas administrators certificate
- Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS)
- Completion of Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL)
- Three years of experience as a classroom teacher in a high school and/or middle school setting
- Thorough understanding of school operations
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coordinate campus support operations
Preferred
- Middle or high school assistant principal experience
- IB/MYP experience
- IB/MYP middle school and high school experience

- Participate in development and evaluation of educational programs

School/Organizational Improvement
- Assist in maintaining systems to track academic performance and improvement
Personnel Management
- Observe and evaluate staff
- Serve as second appraiser for teacher evaluations
- Assist in hiring and onboarding new staff
Administration and Facilities Management
- Supervise in the principals absence
- Help plan schedules and supervise attendance
- Requisition supplies and maintain records
- Assist with safety and inspections
- Coordinate support services
Student Management
- Supervise students during non-instructional periods
- Develop and implement positive discipline systems
- Conduct conferences on student issues
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in ongoing professional development
School/Community Relations
- Promote and articulate the schools mission
- Engage with the community to support school goals
- Encourage parent involvement
Supervisory Responsibilities
Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with the principal. This includes teachers custodians paraprofessionals clerical personnel and others as assigned.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office setting with occasional interruptions and moderate noise levels. Use of standard office equipment is routine.
