Job Description

Job Title: Young Bar& Employed Bar:Policy & Programme Manager

Hours: Full-time

Salary: 49493

Location: High Holborn London

The Bar Council represents over 17000 barristers in England and Wales. It promotes the Bars high-quality specialist advocacy and advisory services; fair access to justice for all; the highest standards of ethics equality and diversity across the profession; and the development of business opportunities for barristers at home and abroad.

Through provision of in-depth policy knowledge the Young Bar & Employed Bar: Policy & Programme Manager: will play a vital role in creating and delivering an exciting programme of research and events for Young Barristers (Barristers with less than 7 years practice) and for Employed Barristers.

You will be expected to develop expertise on key challenges facing both Young and Employed barristers ensuring the Bar Council campaigns on the issues that matter to these two key groups.

In addition to a special focus on the Young and Employed Bar(s) as part of the Diversity & Inclusion and Social Responsibility team you will also work on a range of high-profile social and environmental policy issues.

As a member of the Policy Team alongside colleagues you are also responsible for providing ethical guidance to members of the profession via the Ethical Enquiries Helpline and for assisting with other Bar Council helplines.

You should be degree qualified and have experience of stakeholder and programme management within a similar membership organisation. You should be able to command the attention and respect of Bar leaders Bar Council Officers and individual members of staff. Knowledge of the Bar and a commitment to delivering high quality activity is desirable as is an understanding and passion for equality and diversity.
