Job Summary

The Reentry Coach provides intrusive coaching and structured intervention for students returning from academic suspension or those who have stopped out guiding them through the Welcome Back Program. This position ensures reentry students receive targeted coaching academic skill-building support and resource navigation to successfully reintegrate into their academic journey regain good academic standing and persist toward graduation.

Reentry Coaches also collaborate with Workforce Development to connect students on academic suspension with basic skills programs digital literacy development and short-term career-specific certifications. Additionally they work closely with Financial Aid Academic Advising Career Services and Student Advocacy and Support to provide students with essential wraparound services.

Job Duties

  • Reports to the Director of the Office of Academic Intervention.
  • Manages a caseload of reentry students providing structured coaching and support through the Welcome Back Program.
  • Engages in re-enrollment outreach contacting stop-out students and those returning from academic suspension to provide guidance on next steps registration and support services.
  • Develops and tracks individualized reentry success plans helping students reintegrate into coursework manage time effectively and connect with resources.
  • Monitors reentry student progress throughout their first semester back tracking class participation advising appointments and financial aid compliance.
  • Maintains detailed records of outreach efforts for stop-out students tracking re-enrollment rates and engagement in the Welcome Back Program.
  • Compiles semester-end reports on reentry student success including persistence rates Fresh Start applications and SAP appeal outcomes.
  • Leads student success workshops in collaboration with Career Services Workforce Development and Student Advocacy and Support focusing on goal setting study skills and career pathways.
  • Works with Financial Aid to guide students through the SAP appeal process and ensure continued eligibility for financial aid.
  • Collaborates with Workforce Development and Career Services to connect students with basic skills programs digital literacy courses and short-term career-specific certifications.
  • Attends Workforce Development leadership meetings as invited by the Associate Vice President of Workforce Development
  • Coordinates Welcome Back Orientations with Welcome Back Peer Mentors providing a structured transition back into college.
  • Supports students in submitting academic suspension appeals and navigating reinstatement processes.
  • Collaborates with faculty to address student progress concerns and provide targeted interventions.
  • Tracks student progress and case outcomes using CRM and early alert systems reporting trends to the Director and Early Alert Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in education Counseling Social Work Psychology Higher Education Student Affairs or a related field.
  • Experience providing case management student success coaching or academic intervention.
  • Experience working with students facing academic challenges reentry students or stop-out populations.
  • Experience tracking student progress using CRM or student information systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with adult learners returning students or those facing academic challenges.
  • Experience working in a community college setting.
  • Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) systems (e.g. Slate) for student tracking.
  • Experience managing caseloads of students and intervention tracking.
  • Familiarity with early alert systems and student information systems (e.g. Banner).
  • Experience leading student success workshops focused on goal setting academic self-advocacy and workforce development pathways.
  • Understanding of SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) and academic suspension appeal processes.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong case management problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide intrusive coaching to reentry students and promote self-advocacy.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Knowledge of academic probation/suspension policies and student success models.
  • Understanding of career pathway planning and workforce development resources.
  • Ability to facilitate student success workshops and structured intervention activities.
