Primary Role and the School Culture:
This full-time position will work with the ESS Teacher to deliver a K-8 ESS program that is designed to provide support and management of plans for PSAS students on IEPs. This program should meet or exceed state standards and coordinate within the staff parents and community to integrate and diversify instruction. The successful individual will assist with the special education student caseload and will demonstrate the ability to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team working effectively to support students in meeting individualized goals within the educational program of the school. This position is responsible for monitoring and enforcing building safety and security; assisting in planning and implementing student programs; and assisting in the development and implementation of the school improvement plan.

To perform this job successfully an individual must have the requisite knowledge skills and ability to be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. It is determined that in order to carry out the essential duties and responsibilities an individual must be able to work at a desk conference table or in meetings of various configurations; stand and circulate for extended periods of time; hear and understand speech at normal levels; see up close at a distance and have depth perception; communicate so others will be able to clearly understand normal conversations; bend and twist stoop kneel run and crawl; reach in all directions; and lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

The Para-professional will direct students toward behavior that fosters a positive learning environment for all learners. Support the policies and procedures for students parents and staff. He/she will be held accountablefor their actions convey a professional image demonstrate initiative support the mission have a record of solid time management skills utilize appropriate decision-making processes seek appropriate input demonstrate reliability and dependability and utilize healthy solutions to resolve issues. This individual will be asked to demonstrate professional communication interpersonal skills effective planning and organization skills and effective problem-solving strategies that reflect a collaborative posture.
Other duties assigned by the director principal or designee.
Note: This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings to support all programs field trips and to monitor students before/after school or during lunch and recess. You must be able to work these hours in order to be considered for this position.
