Primary Purpose

Work under general supervision to assist students and teachers in the use of computers and educational software in the campus computer lab and support the campus Leader in Me leadership program.

Qualifications

Education/Certification

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Have met formal academic assessment an associates degree two years of study or 48 hours at an institution of higher learning
  • Paraprofessional Aide Certification required (can be obtained once employed)

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Ability to organize and be detail-oriented
  • Able to operate the computer
  • Ability to provide instruction to individuals or small groups of students
  • Physically and emotionally able to perform assigned tasks
  • Communicate and work with students
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship
  • Must possess personal qualities related to respect for the rights and confidentiality of others

Experience

  • Must have experience working with students; experience may be work in church related schools day camps youth groups private schools licensed day-care centers or similar experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instructional Support

  • Assist teachers and students in the use of computers printers and instructional software
  • Work cooperatively with teachers to identify student placement and instructional software
  • Conduct parent involvement activities
  • Input data and maintain physical and computerized files on student progress and use of instructional programs
  • Maintain the computer lab in a neat and orderly manner including bulletin boards and displays
  • Help with inventory care and maintenance of equipment
  • Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports

Technical Support

  • Perform computer backups regularly
  • Install a variety of computer programs following complex written instructions
  • Detect and arrange for the maintenance and repair of computer equipment

Student Management

  • Manage student behavior in the computer lab
  • Help with student supervision before during and after school while the students are loading and unloading buses on the playground in the cafeteria in a learning or practice environment inside and outside of the classroom while following appropriate training techniques throughout the school day

Professional Conduct

  • Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and withstand pressures
  • Flexible to changes in routine and adapts quickly to changing situations
  • Reliable and responsible attendance and punctuality
  • Demonstrates respect is courteous to peers and visitors and assists fellow workers willingly
  • Avoid speaking ill of the district and district personnel

Other

  • Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance
  • Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned
  • Perform duties as assigned related to the position as directed by the supervisor or administrative staff
