JOB TITLE:Technician-Bench Repair

REPORTS TO:Campus Support Manager

WAGE/HOUR STATUS:Non-Exempt

PAYGRADE: IT 1

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Bench Repair Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining district computers associated hardware and software. All employees of Spring ISD are expected to act with integrity support organizational goals communicate in a clear and respectful manner championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • High School Graduate from an accredited institution
  • Two years job related experience with supporting hardware and software

Preferred:

  • A certification
  • Two years or more of repair experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

  • Ability to quickly and accurately identify computer hardware problems
  • Knowledge of operating systems including Google Chrome and Windows 10
  • Knowledge of systems applications including Google Apps for Education and MS Office
  • Ability to detect and resolve problems in application software
  • Knowledge of ticketing software preferably ServiceNow
  • Strong organizational communication and customer service skills

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Manage ServiceNow tickets including notation of all activities.
  • Troubleshoot by assisting users experiencing a computer or related problem to analyze their needs and solutions using customer service best practices.
  • Use diagnostic tools software hardware and/or procedures to determine failed system or component then take necessary corrective measures to bring the unit back to normal operation.
  • Order/install/upgrade hardware and necessary parts install/update/upgrade software to resolve problems and/or send hardware to manufacturer to fix as needed.
  • Attend training in the latest technology to stay up to date with new hardware and software.
  • Maintain certification with main hardware vendor for onsite repair of equipment.
  • Setup and installation of new equipment as requested Perform annual maintenance and service on all computers and related hardware.
  • Maintain records of units serviced and locations including model numbers serial numbers type and system information.
  • Assist others in the Technology department with troubleshooting problems regarding hardware wiring or software.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility standing prolonged sitting and use of a computer some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling. This position will also require traveling within the district. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; Interface with all levels of leadership dynamic environment with changing priorities and occasional irregular hours. Ability to be effective in both oral and written communication and the ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
