Job Description

DAY 6 PROGRAM GUIDANCE COUNSELOR

Overview:

DAY 6 is an evening program to re-engage students who have dropped out of Everett High School. The mission of our Day 6 is to identify those who have dropped out from Everett High School and re-engage them. It is our understanding that many students want to finish high school but are often met with further barriers that exclude them from opportunities for them to be successful. The goal is to expand our re-engagement efforts by transforming EHS into a Saturday/Night Center for students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out. We are looking for a guidance counselor to support re-engaged students and staff.

Our program provides comprehensive support including:

  • GED/HISET Support
  • MCAS tutoring support
  • Job readiness and placement opportunities
  • Life skills and career exploration

Duties

  • Work directly with the Re-Engagement Specialist with EPS to create a database of students who are eligible for Day 6.
  • Create needs assessments and graduation audits.
  • Identify paths for students to graduate with a post secondary plan or workforce plan.
  • Coordinate tutors and their roles in the Day 6 program.
  • Build partnerships with outside organizations to support students who transition in and out of the program.
  • Develop success plans for each student.
  • Work with the Guidance Department Chair and Re-engagement Specialist to ensure that the scope of the program is aligned with district policies and mission.
  • Facilitate student outreach.

Dates: Program runs from September to June following the school calendar.

Times: Mondays 4 pm - 6 pm Wednesdays 4 pm - 6 pm

Setting: In person

Stipend Rate: up to $5600 ($40/hr)

Qualifications: Experience in school administration or school counseling

Contact EPS Re-engagement Specialist Maia Lee-Chin for more information.
