Job Description

Fahrenheit Advisors has been retained by our client Baker Properties to assist them in their search for a Corporate Accountant to join their team.

The Baker Companies is a 60-year-old privately held commercial real estate company built through innovation financial discipline and above all exceptionally talented people. We anticipate and meet the needs of a constantly changing marketplace through our multi-disciplined team. Our in-house expertise ranges from land acquisition and development financial and construction management strategic marketing leasing and property management.

Baker Companies is headquartered in Richmond VA with a regional office in White Plains NY. Our Commercial assets extend throughout the East Coast including projects in Connecticut New Jersey New York and Virginia.

The Opportunity

The Company is looking for a finance professional to assist in the Baker Companies Finance and Administration team. Reporting to Baker Companies Controller the Corporate Accountant will assist in accounting for the Companys fiscal functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The individual will serve as the key resource for day-to-day accounting functions at Baker Companies.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare financial reports including dashboards monthly statements and budget forecasts
  • Analyze variances and financial trends
  • Work within the SAGE accounting platform

Accounting Operations

  • Maintain internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance
  • Support month-end close journal entries and reconciliations
  • Process AP/AR cash transactions and capital distributions
  • Monitor receivables and support cash management

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with management to support company goals and initiatives
  • Contribute to a collaborative solutions-oriented culture
  • Provide data analysis for finance asset management and property operations
  • Help translate financial insights into actionable decisions across departments

Qualifications

  • 5 years of accounting/finance experience
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen
  • Proficient in SAGE and Microsoft Office
  • Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborative team player with a service-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • High integrity and strong sense of responsibility.
