Job Description
Mount Mansfield Unified Union High School has an anticipated Special Educator opening. The successful candidate should have a strong background in high school special education strategies and enjoy working as part of a creative hard-working team. Strengths must include the ability to build and foster positive rapport with students and families effective communication curriculum modification as well as comfort with special education rules and regulations. The ideal candidate must have a strong knowledge of best practices when providing individualized and group instruction in Literacy and math Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
The ideal candidate for this position will:
- Design and implement Individual Education Programs (IEP) for eligible students with intensive needs in accordance with state and local processes
- Effectively implement and utilize progress monitoring tools in order to collect data to show student growth
- Have experience supporting students with social cognition behavioral and social emotional needs
- Have experience in planning leading and managing IEP meetings
- Willing to collaborate with colleagues
- Value and implement inclusive and equitable teaching practices as well as use a variety of instructional techniques and resources to create a differentiated learning space
- Ability to create strong positive relationships with students families and colleagues and values the importance of these relationships
- Effectively communicate with all stakeholders to ensure all student needs are met
- Have strong planning and instructional skills and experience in curriculum modification
Qualifications
- Active Vermont Special Educator License
- Strong collaboration skills
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Citizenship residency or work visa required
