Job: EMT Classification: Hourly/Non-Exempt Job Category: 3 Technicians
Position Summary The EMT responds to emergency and non-emergency requests for ambulance service and provides safe intermediate and basic life support care and transportation following local state and Titus Regional Medical Center standards.
Essential Functions -Performs daily and monthly equipment and unit checks following established guidelines. -Performs daily and weekly station duties following established guidelines. -Ensures unit and equipment are clean and in proper working order. -Following department protocols appropriately assesses treats and transports ill and injured patients to appropriate receiving facilities. -Documents all aspects of EMS responses including; dispatch response arrival treatment and transport. -Collects and documents patient demographics including billing information which includes obtaining appropriate signatures. -Maintains patient confidentiality. -Reports mechanical concerns to field supervisor and if appropriate to other EMS staff. Appropriately documents findings. -Operates and drives EMS vehicles in a safe and efficient manner following company driving guidelines. -Follows established patient experience guidelines -Attends all mandatory meetings as scheduled. -Assists with new employee training as directed. -Assists with training EMS students as directed. -Assists with training other students as directed. -Safely uses equipment to move patient from scene location to ambulance and into receiving facility. Moving may include but not be limited to lifting patient from floors uneven surfaces indoors outdoors during inclement weather down stairs moving on and off of stretcher and stair chair. -Operates communications devices to include phones and two-way radios. -Adheres to and follows all patient experience initiatives. -Reports to and departs from work on time and as scheduled. -Performs other duties as assigned. -Must be able to deal with stress while maintaining composure. -Follows and adheres to TRMC vaccine policy(s) mandated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Work Experience -Six months of EMS experience preferred.
Education -Must be at least 18 years of age. -Current Texas EMT-Basic certification is required. -Current drivers license required. -Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required upon hire date. -ICS 100 required within 90 days of hire date. -ICS 200 required within 90 days of hire date. -ICS 700 required within 90 days of hire date. -ICS 800 required within 90 days of hire date. Must be currently enrolled or enroll in a Paramedic program within 6 months of hire
