Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazons low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast reliable internet to customers and communities around the world and weve designed the system with the capacity flexibility and performance to serve a wide range of customers from individualhouseholds to schools hospitals businesses government agencies and other organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

As a Project Engineer for Kuiper Tooling and Ground Support Equipment you will support the program on the transition from development into stable production. You will help develop design analyze and implement custom tooling and equipment required for assembling testing shipping and launch integration of the satellites. You will need to convert the requests from various teams into data systems that are easy to use cost effective and accurate. In addition you will be responsible for project management cost estimate and scheduling.

Key job responsibilities
- Work with vehicle manufacturing integration and operation teams to define and conceive creative solutions to unique problems.
- Apply Agile methods to manage the project scope and cadence.
- Use data to understand work streams and top issues.
- Assist in driving root cause and corrective action for automation and controls issues.
- Project manage execution of designs including budgeting scheduling and working with manufacturing teams and vendors.
- Work directly with manufacturing and operation teams on commissioning designs on production floor.
- Drive best practices on the team deal with ambiguity and competing objectives and proactively identify and mitigate risks before they become roadblocks
- Write effective narratives and present them concisely and effectively to senior management
- Develop program and team processes and tools as required

About the team
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team is responsible for designing and commissioning automation and tooling for Satellite testing and production. This in-house team of engineers and support technicians work directly with satellite designers testers and manufacturing engineers to solve unique problems in high-volume satellite production.

- 7 years of working directly with engineering teams experience
- Experience managing programs across cross functional teams building processes and coordinating release schedules
- Bachelors degree in engineering computer science or equivalent

- 5 years of project management disciplines including scope schedule budget quality along with risk and critical path management experience
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- Experience defining KPIs/SLAs used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
- Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure complex systems systems engineering

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
