Primary Purpose of Position:

Parks and Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic team member to be part of the North Carolina Zoo team.The Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking two (2) enthusiastic Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer to fill our Park Ranger positions. AZoo Park Rangerserves as field officer with full law enforcement authority to provide law enforcement security and will enforce state laws and park regulations through patrol education warnings citations and arrests.

Bachelors degree preferably in Parks and Recreation and/or Natural Science from an appropriately accredited institution;

Necessary Special Qualifications
Certification as a Law Enforcement Officer in accordance with the provisions of the North Carolina Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission or the ability to achieve certification within one year of employment.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
