Shift: 40 Hrs/wk.-Flex Schedule Standard Hours between 8:30am - 6:00 pm

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting behavioral technicians and individuals with the diagnosis of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) behavioral assessments behavioral intervention and behavioral observation and direction under the BCBA or BCBA candidates. This position provides a variety of direct services based upon the department need. Staff will work with ASD staff to implement treatment plan goals and assist with development of age-appropriate social behaviors. Services are provided in the families home or community setting. Other ASD service programs that staff will be expected to work with are ABA individual/family therapy group therapy crisis intervention case management OT and PT services and ASD psychological and behavioral assessments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Professional staff that will create ABA treatment plan behavioral goals related to positive skill development and development of age-appropriate social behaviors.
  • Conduct Functional Behavioral assessments as needed.
  • Conduct behavioral assessment to assist with the development of ABA plans.
  • Provide services in ASD therapeutically-orientated activities and skills training programs.
  • Oversee and conduct various activities such as didactic groups life skills development and individual or team activities.
  • Provides direct observation to behavioral technicians in accordance with ABA practices.
  • Provided Parent Education in accordance with ABA practices.
  • Instruct and/or assist in self-care grooming personal hygiene and other activities of daily living.
  • Assist with training and education in age-appropriate developmental milestones.
  • Assist with development of age-appropriate independent living skills.
  • Assist in implementing the IPOS (Individual Plan of Service) to increase the persons abilities in areas of academics social interaction gross and fine motor coordination.
  • Responsible for documenting performance behavior and treatment progress.
  • Use approved Evidenced Practices Intervention techniques in a safe and appropriate manner as needed.
  • Assist ASD staff with implementing consistent ABA intervention behavioral interventions and training on age-appropriate developmental milestones.
  • Work with ASD staff to develop and teach appropriate techniques as identified in the IPOS.
  • Consults with program supervisor professional staff peers and caregivers as needed to address problems or concerns specific to the individual they are working with.
  • Prepares the training environment and sets up schedules of activities in accordance with the ABA intervention plan.
  • Completes data collection monitoring reports progress note summaries assessment forms incident reports and other required documentation on the individual in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Is prepared to administer CPR First Aid and approved physical intervention techniques when needed.
  • Transports individuals and materials as needed.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and compliance with agency and program policies and procedures.
  • Participates in committees and work teams as requested or assigned.
  • Attend training that will help enhance knowledge and skills in regards to working with children with ASD.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Preference of a Masters degree in Behavioral Analytics but a Bachelors Degree in Behavior Analytics or other human services related field where BACB approved course sequence was completed may be considered.
  • Must have a BACB certification as a BCBA or BCaBA and eligible for Michigan Behavioral Analyst licensure.
  • For anyone working with children they must receive 24 hours of Childrens training per calendar year.
  • Upon hire staff will be trained in all ABA and IPOS treatment plans within 90 days.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Basic Skills: Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Has the ability to compute rate ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software. Typing speed of 45 wpm is recommended.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Michigan Chauffeurs License CPR First Aid and DCH Certification with in three months of hire. Serve Safe Hi-Lo operation and Quick Book training within three months of hire as per supervisory/ position duties.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Has a functional knowledge of effective behavioral treatment techniques and practical training strategies for the population being served.

Has adequate awareness and ability to implement the concept and practical implications of person-centered planning.

Relates effectively with supervisors professional staff and peers as well as families and school personnel.

Demonstrates an attitude of responsibility dependability competence and safety consciousness; and is able to model this to the individual served and others involved in the persons treatment.

Retirement

Nationwide 401(a)-

If hired on or after 9/1/2019 the Authority shall contribute an amount equal to three percent (3%) of the employees base wage.

Pension-

For Employees hired prior to 09/01/2019 the pension formula will be a two percent (2%) multiplier and the Employer will continue to provide contributions as actuarially determined to insure the financial soundness of the fund.

Vested in the Authoritys contributions once thirty-six (36) months of service are completed with the Authority.

Vested in the Authoritys contributions once eight years of service are completed.

The Authority shall contribute fifty cents ($0.50) to the 401(a) Plan for each dollar ($1.00) an Employee contributes to his or her 457B Plan up to the first four percent (4%) of the employees base wage.
