Teaching at Perry Street PrepWe are recruiting In-House Substitute Teachers for the 2025-26 school year. The ideal candidate will have classroom teaching experience preferably within an urban school setting. Teaching positions at Perry Street Prep are full-time salaried 10-month positions.
- The In-House Substitute provides coverage for teachers who are out of the classroom at any given time. The position will work across K-8 grade levels and subjects depending on the needs of the school at any given time. The In-House Substitute is responsible for the following:
- Implementing the curriculum and utilizing classroom routines and procedures with consistency;
- Developing lesson plans homework assignments and assessments;
- Presenting academic content through a variety of instructional strategies to reach all learners;
- Communicating and enforcing high expectations and standards for behavior and academic performance;
- Participating in professional development to learn best practices in teaching Common Core standards;
- Forming and maintaining relationships with students and their families including phone calls and conferences;
- Additional administrative duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONSPerry Street Prep is seeking educators with the following education experience and personal philosophy:
- High school diploma required; Associates degree or higher degree preferred
- Experience working with elementary and middle school students in an urban school setting preferred
- A commitment to educating students for academic achievement and empowering students to make healthy lifestyle choices
- Believe in the capacity of every student for high academic achievement and a maintain a commitment to creating a highly-structured effective and fun learning environment
- Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve
