Job Description

Surgical Technician

Location: Sacred Heart Medical Center & Childrens Hospital
Department: Surgical Services
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Sacred Heart Medical Center & Childrens Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. Under the direction of the supervising surgical technologist and/or circulating RN the Surgical Technician will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures by maintaining a sterile environment preparing surgical instruments and supplies and assisting the surgical team throughout the operative process.

This position may also support ancillary surgical roles such as Case Cart Technician Turnover Team and Service Line Technician. Surgical Technicians are essential to maintaining efficiency and safety in the perioperative workflow and play a key role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up sterile instruments supplies and equipment for surgical procedures

  • Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique throughout the surgical process

  • Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical team as required

  • Assist in the care and maintenance of surgical instruments post-procedure

  • Support circulating RN and surgical team by assisting with circulating duties as directed

  • Serve in designated roles such as Case Cart Technician or Turnover Team to support OR efficiency

  • Contribute to safe and timely turnover of surgical suites between cases

  • Ensure readiness of surgical services in alignment with clinical standards and performance metrics

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

  • Washington State Surgical Technologist Registration (required upon hire)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required upon hire)

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a hospital caregiver or related clinical role
