Job Description
A Radiologist Doctor is a physician who specializes in the use of medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases. Radiologists use a variety of imaging techniques including X-rays CT scans MRIs and ultrasounds to create images of the bodys internal structures. These images can be used to identify abnormalities such as tumors infections and injuries.
Radiologists also use imaging to guide medical procedures such as biopsies and surgeries. In addition radiologists may provide radiation therapy to treat cancer.
Essential Functions
- Performing diagnostic imaging procedures such as X-rays CT scans MRIs and ultrasounds
- Interpreting medical images to diagnose diseases
- Guiding medical procedures such as biopsies and surgeries
- Providing radiation therapy to treat cancer
- Consulting with other physicians on patient care
- Maintaining accurate patient records
Education and Experience
- A Doctor of Medicine (MD) radiologist or DNB.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Ability to interpret medical images
- Ability to use diagnostic imaging equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a 1 team
Work Environment
Radiologists typically work in hospitals clinics or private practices. They may also work in research or teaching settings.
