Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)

Outpatient

Responsibilities

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation (BSWIR) is seeking a full-time speech pathologist based at our Waxahachie outpatient clinic. BSWIR Outpatient has an interdisciplinary team model working closely with physical therapy and occupational therapy. We are searching for candidates with experience treating motor speech adult language cognitive-communication disorders and dysphagia especially related to treatment following head/neck cancer. The caseload in Waxahachie is very diverse due to the location which makes for a very exciting yet challenging case mix so searching for someone with experience and excitement to grow clinically.
We work as part of the continuum of care striving to get patients back to their premorbid level of functioning. Adult outpatient therapy consists of diagnostics and treatment of stroke acquired brain injury dysphagia voice Parkinsons disease cancer dementia and other medical complexities in an interdisciplinary setting. Experience with LSVT or SPEAK OUT! is preferred.
Our outpatient speech therapy team includes many experienced clinicians with specialties in a variety of areas which serve as great mentors.
We offer a clinical ladder for advancement company-supported professional development and CEUs. We have a year-long professional development program to clinicians new to the post-acute rehabilitation part of the continuum.
Require at least 2-3 years of experience treating the adult medical population.

Specific Duties

  • Evaluate assigned patients and establish appropriate treatment goals and programs.
  • Coordinatetreatment program in conjunction with other clinical/therapeutic services as available community resources.
  • Develop comprehensive goals for patient treatment to maximize patient outcomes and return to community activities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Current state licensure or eligibility for state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist required.
    • Certified BLS or completion in the first 90 days of employment required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association preferred.
