Job Description

Job Summary 

Provide leadership expertise and operational management for programs at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify develop implement and manage programs throughout the organization. Partner with subject matter experts to ensure that programs uphold strategy and accountability to improve processes efficiencies quality and patient safety at the Medical Center. Work is performed under limited supervision. Direct report to the Manager Operations Chief Clinical Office.

Primary Responsibilities 

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

  • Responsible for leading programs and related projects (e.g. multi-year initiatives that are targeted to achieve Hospitals financial strategic and operational goals etc.) that promote and disseminate priority efforts within the University of Maryland Medical Center.
  • Organize and manage project teams develop project plans manage program schedules and scope working with executive leadership to remove barriers and push initiatives forward.
  • Develop operational project plans manage program management plans and communicate project expectations to stakeholders in collaboration with executive leadership to ensure strategic alignment and awareness.
  • Oversee and assure timely execution of action plans across multiple operational priorities in collaboration with UMMC departments to ensure objectives are met and reported in timely fashion.
  • Identify and enable opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of programs.
  • Facilitate discussions decision making and accountability assignment to ensure stakeholder and executive leadership support and participation.
  • Manage processes systems tools and organizational resources to initiate plan control execute and maintain programs associated with strategic initiatives.
  • Assure that programs and initiatives are supportive in achieving organizational mission and objectives.
  • Assist in the development of program metrics and monitor performance to ensure program goals are achieved.
  • Communicate issues and provide updates on strategic initiatives to senior management as needed.
  • Collaborate with UMMC Faculty Physicians Incorporated and University of Maryland School of Medicine colleagues to ensure alignment implementation and optimization of programs.
  • Advise executive and department leadership regarding solutions for identified challenges/issues.
  • Collaborate with senior and executive leadership to conduct research process analyses benchmarking and performance measurement activities such as baseline and sustainment metrics. Develop and deliver clear and concise presentations.
  • Lead detailed current state assessment future state design and implementation strategies for initiatives within the scope of the project. Develop process maps of current and future state processes.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to audiences across the System in collaboration with leadership.
  • Document organize and maintain records and files containing work plans analysis tools and results communications and presentations sustainment plans and final deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 


Qualifications :

Education & Experience - Required

  • Bachelors degree in Healthcare Administration Nursing Public Health Administration Business Administration or related field or the equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in positions involving accountability for projects and/or programs.

Education & Experience - Preferred 

  • Experience in an academically affiliated health care facility.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities 

  • Working knowledge of processes to address organizational planning performance change and improvement.
  • Working knowledge of key components of an effective performance measurement process including the identification of key metrics and the use of data.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the application of change management principles and cultural transformation.
  • Working knowledge of project management methodologies processes tools systems and best practices.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm and creativity necessary to organize initiatives to meet organizational objectives and ensure superior outcomes.
  • Advanced facilitation skills to affect and manage change and growth.
  • Flexible enthusiastic approach to work including a strong desire to learn with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems and learning understanding and applying new processes and technologies.
  • Exhibit high self-motivation and have the ability to work and plan independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Keen sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work.
  • Advanced analytical critical thinking planning organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced skill presenting findings conclusions alternatives and information clearly and concisely at all levels within the organization.
  • Advanced skill to influence negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes.
  • Advanced skill developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all levels of leadership staff and vendors.
  • Advanced skill managing multiple initiatives and meeting changing requirements and priorities to accomplish objectives.
  • Advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word Excel PowerPoint).
  • Advanced verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
