Who we are looking for:

Slate is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Process Engineer Coatings to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for optimizing assembly processes improving efficiency and ensuring the highest quality standards are met in the manufacturing of our products. The Lead Process Engineer Coatings will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain effective assembly processes.


What you get to do:

  • Prioritize safety above all else to protect our team members partners and customers.
  • Analyze and evaluate existing coatings processes to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement efficient assembly procedures and workflows.
  • Optimize manufacturing processes to increase productivity and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to ensure the manufacturability of products.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for coatings and sealer line setup and production.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline production processes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for process improvement projects.
  • Work closely with safety teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Implement and monitor quality control measures to meet product specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve assembly issues.
  • Develop document and maintain detailed process control plans including standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment.
  • Capture and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.


What you bring to the team:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field is preferred. While a degree is preferred we value hands-on experience and a proven track record of success in similar roles as a suitable substitute and encourage candidates to apply who can demonstrate relevant and commensurate professional experience.
  • 5 years of relevant experience as a Paint Process Engineer in a manufacturing or assembly environment preferably in the automotive industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of PTED Paint Sealer Application processes and manufacturing best practices.
  • Experience with process optimization and efficiency improvement.
  • Experience with implementing automation in assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma Kaizen etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
  • Highly adaptable and proactive excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
  • Proficiency with engineering software and tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook Teams Word Excel PowerPoint).


Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to travel both domestic and international (up to 25%).
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to stand walk and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
