The Team
The Interior-East Kootenay Resource and Out of Care Team is a highly collaborative and experienced group of professionals dedicated to supporting foster caregivers out-of-care homes and staffed resources across a large geographical area. With four Resource Workers one Out of Care Worker and a Team Leader they work closely with contracted agencies the Ministry Child Protection team community supports Indigenous Delegated Agencies and CYSN Respite Homes to ensure children and youth have a safe caring home. This team embraces creative teamwork to support each other and share across multiple communities.

The Role
The Resource Worker recruits assesses and supports caregivers including foster parents out-of-care providers and staffed homes and manages the related contracts and financial agreements. You will also provide direct support for the Out Of Care portfolio as needed and support the transition to Specialized Homes and Support Services (SHSS). In this role you will collaborate with families caregivers and community partners to help children thrive in their own communities and ensure safe stable and caring home environments. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred OR expanded credentials and experience requirements

1. Preferred Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

2. Expanded Credentials:

Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
