Job Description:
The Materials & Research Divisions physical test lab is seeking a positive self-motivated manager to join our team as a Quality Assurance Manager. In this role you will supervise two direct reports and oversee day-to-day lab operations test procedure development testing of various materials and the evaluation of payment estimates in AASHTOWare project.

Pay range is $24.102 - $36.158 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.
JOB DUTIES:
- Supervise all physical test lab activity including outside Inspections.
- Perform and oversee testing procedures for steel concrete traffic bridges and lighting products used throughout NDOT projects.
- Review current specifications for all tests performed in the lab.
- Provide leadership and training for physical test staff including correspondence with field personnel and private industry partners.
- Provide a review of physical test lab work corresponding to all construction project estimates which are used for project payment to the contractors.
- Manage and direct the activities of the Quality Assurance Records Section of the Physical Test Lab.
- Review test reports determine the priority of sampling and testing and maintain complete files.
- Assist and advise field personnel in implementing the requirements of the Materials & Research Division.
- Check and calibrate the testing equipment used by the Materials & Research Division.
- Prepare material manuals and specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:High school education plus ten years experience related to agency function; or Bachelors degree in geology or related field plus five years experience related to agency function; or Bachelors degree in engineering plus four years experience related to agency function. Registration as a Professional Engineer in Nebraska is desirable and may substitute for two years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Certified in Ultrasound inspection with previous experience in steel and weld inspection.
- Experience in testing varied products in a lab setting data collection and inspections related to steel and concrete structures.
- Experience in AASHTOWare Project and estimate reviews.
Other:
- Must have a valid drivers license or ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
- Some overnight travel may be required.
- Regular and reliable attendance is also required.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of highway construction materials.
- Knowledge working with Microsoft software products or other software related to mechanical equipment design and control functionality.
- Ability to exercise sound scientific judgment in supervising quality control and subordinates; to follow administrative direction; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to maintain records and reports
