Job Description


Are you ready to lead and innovate in the field of medical affairs As the US Medical Director for Amyloidosis you will report directly to the US Amyloidosis Medical Head and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products within the CVRM therapy area. This position demands a visionary leader who can seize opportunities design impactful evidence activities and drive market-shaping initiatives. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring successful product launches and transforming health systems for the benefit of population health. Join us in delivering world-class scientific engagement with external experts and key stakeholders.

Accountabilities:

Provide medical input into brand strategy as a core member of the Core Medical Team (CMT).
Collaborate with commercial team and alliance partners to develop overall brand strategy.
Ensure comprehensive engagement plans with external leaders and key stakeholders including Managed Care Organizations Key Opinion Leaders Key Institutions Hospital Systems and Professional Societies.
Play an integral role in planning and participating in national and regional medical advisory boards.
Plan and provide training for external medical/scientific speakers.
Deliver clinical education and training for internal stakeholders such as Field Medical Team and product sales teams.
Collaborate with medical and payer evidence directors to define research strategy and design studies addressing clinical effectiveness and health.
Lead the strategy and development of clinical studies to obtain promotional claims or advance scientific knowledge of our products.
Provide input into Life Cycle Management studies and Phase 4 Study strategy/design.
Conduct medical review for Externally Sponsored Scientific Research proposals in concert with cross-functional team members.
Contribute to publication strategy and review/comment for medical accuracy of publications.
Review medical and promotional materials with cross-functional team members.
Supply medical input into the safety profile of the product in collaboration with Patient Safety (PS) physicians.
Act as a medical spokesperson for US Brand as needed for media inquiries or other external groups.
Ensure compliance with all AZ corporate policies.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Doctoral level degree: MD PhD or PharmD
Experience in Cardiology/Endocrinology/Internal Medicine
Background in academic medicine clinical research and familiarity with biostatistics and epidemiology
Excellent written and oral communication interpersonal and organization skills
Ability to travel nationally and internationally

Desirable Skills/Experience:

Expertise in CVRM with proven experience in amyloidosis
Relevant experience beyond Medical Affairs (e.g. in a marketing/R&D/Market Access role)
Strong working relationships with global thought leaders including key experts and opinion leaders professional societies and other healthcare industries/organizations
MD Board certification/eligibility preferred in Cardiology/Internal Medicine/Endocrinology or related relevant specialty
Strong business acumen including working knowledge of changing U.S. payer and provider landscape
Pharmaceutical industry experience or other experience in related areas including academic institutions
Proven ability to interact productively with both commercial and scientific colleagues
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
Experience developing and/or launching a new pharmaceutical product
Familiarity with OPDP PhRMA code and key regulations in the pharmaceutical industry
Working knowledge of FDA requirements
