The Global Manager Food Contact Regulatory Compliance provides corporate oversight and guidance to all PPG business units regarding global regulatory compliance for food contact safety. You will develop and lead the global process for food contact compliance programs and serve as the subject matter expert in food contact safety in PPGs Global Product Stewardship community of expertise. This position will have close collaboration with global product stewardship teams operations and business unit partners to identify gaps related to food contact compliance and provide opportunities for improvement which will contribute to their business profitability while minimizing product liability.
You will report to the Sr. Manager Global Toxicology and Food Contact.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement compliance programs containing standard global processes to ensure the sustainability of procedures related to global food contact regulations including methodology around migration testing calculations modelling screening NIAS studies toxicological risk assessments and demonstrating that the manufacturing process fulfils the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
Provide strategic guidance and risk management for programs around food contact compliance.
Assist and direct the business units in the implementation of procedures during product development to comply with food contact regulations as well as awareness around restricted chemicals or those of concern to ensure compliance with conditions of use for regulated chemicals.
Oversee the maintenance for a food contact compliance IT system; food contact compliance documentation; and other tools to be used by the business units to verify compliance of products in all regions. Work closely to promote IT and efficiency tools that aid the businesses in maintaining compliance with global regulations.
Provide oversight to applicable PPG Common Interest Group(s) to create awareness share concepts best practices and tools to manage programs globally.
Liaise with Legal outside counsel and other stakeholders to ensure coordination of management of potential and verified non-compliance issues.
Continuous improvement in our processes to identify evaluate and communicate emerging issues.
Develop and maintain relationships with trade associations technical and legal consultants as well as agency representatives involved with food safety regulations. Identify select and manage contracts for a variety of consultants who provide regulatory support for the processes globally.
Ensure awareness of issues through participation in trade groups conferences and seminars as well as monitoring publications. Serve as food contact safety regulatory expert to provide input to PPGs position on pending regulatory legislation and support the Chemical Management processes.
Identify opportunities for advocacy on regulatory and emerging issues around food contact safety compliance. Engage PPG Product Stewardship and Government Affairs team to address advocacy opportunities.
Lead a global team of food contact compliance specialists who directly support Industrial Coatings and Packaging businesses.
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in science discipline and 15 years of experience in Technical or Product Stewardship field. Advanced Degree is preferred.
Broad understanding of compliance and EHS principles for the global operation of businesses.
The ability to be recognized internally and externally for regulatory compliance expertise especially related to food contact safety compliance.
Experience communicating complex technical information to multiple cross-functional audiences; Prior experience in a multicultural global environmental is preferred.
Some travel may be required.
