The role

What will you be doing

Position: Head of Operational Risk and Resiliency
Location: Dorking or Basingstoke (with hybrid working)
Reporting To: Chief Operations Officer

What will you bring

This is a unique Head of Operational Risk and Resiliency role like no other. At Unum UK we are big enough to have ambitious growth plans and small enough for you to really have an impact in a role that influences the success of the business.

In this pivotal role you will be responsible for overseeing first line risk and operational resilience across the function. This certified role also leads on complaints (including FOS cases) and quality assurance ensuring that lessons learned are embedded to continually improve the customer experience.

Your strategic mindset exceptional communication skills and ability to build strong relationships will be key when collaborating across all levels and functions of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high performing team through effective coaching and development.
  • Apply strong operational risk expertise and a broad understanding of multiple business areas following agreed procedures to obtain and maintain proficiency across quality levels.
  • Maintain accurate scheme records and data conforming to company requirements.
  • Proactive management of adverse risk referrals identified through system rules making decisions in line with the underwriting philosophy and company goals.

Requirements:

  • Strong risk experience and knowledge of corporate regulatory framework and standards including TCF and Risk Management.
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to effectively partner problem solve and influence others.
  • Excellent attention to detail interpretation of information and the ability to make appropriate recommendations or take appropriate action and ensure maximum process efficiency.
